On the eighteenth of November in 2011, the final presentation of tenth Multimedia Works Design Contest for University Students in Zhejiang University was held in Zhejiang Normal University. The rules stipulate that every school could hand in 5 works for the contest at most. Of over 200 works received in DV division contest, 4 DV works of Zhejiang University stand out by virtue of novel idea and exquisite making, soaring their way to entry and getting at presentation.
The contest acts as a stage for students to show their talents and a platform to practice. Faculty and students in Zhejiang University are actively involved in the contest for originality, beauty and technique. With the care and help from Research Training and Foreign Exchange Office of Educational Research Office and leaders of College of Media and International Culture, the newly-established Media Originality Base for Students in Zhejiang University undertakes the responsibility of guiding the organizing of the contest on campus and the selection of contestants. In May, 2011 the base organized Media Originality Contest in Zhejiang University, which recruited works from undergraduates across the university. The strict selection gave rise to 5 works which would represent Zhejiang University for the contest based on their topic originality, artistic feature and technique. Then the tutor spent nearly two months of the summer vacation guiding the contestants refining, revising and polishing their works.
On November 17th the four selected teams of the university set out for Jinhua City to perform the presentation. The students were fully prepared for the presentation the next day, making great effort to make as wonderful a presentation as the DV episode by polishing the diction and bettering the tone. During the presentation, the four teams made a concise elaboration of the topical connotation, artistic style and techniques with the company of the film atmosphere, beautiful, or tense or serious, resulting in the judge panels’ recognition and showers of applause from the audience by means of flexibility and appropriateness shown in the presentation.
The desolate winter exerts little influence on their enthusiasm for the contest with the excellent results being supports and motivators to them. We believe they are on the way to a broader world and greater achievement in the field of multimedia works design in the future!
