The 2018 Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education Seminar was held on July 10th. Professor Zhang Guangxin, Dean of Undergraduate School, hosted the seminar. Vice Party Secretary Zheng Qiang and Vice President Luo Jianhong attended. On the seminar, Luo Jianhong pointed out that the innovation and entrepreneurship education is constituted by various aspects and different links. The leadership of ZJU and academic officials should work together to carry forward a world-class running system of IE education.Mr. Wu Xiaocheng, Minister of Student Affairs, Vice Dean of School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, analyzed the current situation of IE education inside and outside China by giving a report of Standing Out During the Transformation of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education.Deputy Director of Academic Affairs Ms. Jin Juanqin, CEO of Beijing WANXUE Education Technology Co., Ltd. and the expert of IE education Mr. Zhang Qiang, Dean of School of Management Professor Wei Jiang gave reports respectively on topics of exploration of cross-discipline minors, construction of high-level and application-oriented talents system, as well as the angle of IE talents cultivation.During the communication session, Vice Minister of Student Affairs Mr. Yin Jinrong provided a detailed explanation about the running policy of School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship. Vice Dean of School of Energy Engineering Professor Yu Zitao, Vice Dean of School of Biosystems Engineering and Food Science Professor Xu Huirong, and the leader of Next Lab of School of Computer Science and Technology communicated with all the attendees in the session. With a conclusion of the seminar, Zheng Qiang pointed out that the basis of current IE education is to cultivate students with the spirit of innovation, the quality of entrepreneurship and the ideal of improving the society. And to realize these targets, students should not only be a person with independent thinking and responsibility, but also have the willing to work as a member in a team.The seminar has provided a clear idea on how to promote the development and raise the quality of IE education. It also clarified the key and breaking point of next step’s work and practice.

The Ice-breaking session of 2018 ‘Hangzhou and Chinese Culture C9 Summer School’ was held on July 11th 2018 in Yongqian Students’ Center.

The General Education Center held a workshop on July 4th 2018 with the theme of ‘Promoting Core GE Course through Teaching and Learning’. Associate Professor Liu Zhaohui from School of Public Affairs hosted the workshop with about 30 attendees of faculty members from different departments and they exchanged opinions based on their teaching experience.Ms. Jin Juanqin, Deputy Director of Academic Affairs Department first reviewed the exploration and practice of general education in ZJU and set forth its plan of development in the next step. After that, Associate Professor Liu Zhaohui shared his experience when being the teacher of some core GE courses. Liu analyzed the current status and problems existed in some courses from the research results of teachers and students. At the end of the workshop, a warm discussion was carried out among all the attendees by focusing on how to organize the courses of group discussion as well as to raise students’ enthusiasm and optimism in the class.The General Education Center will continually hold workshops for faculty members to build up a platform for efficient and convenient communication.
